Adding meaning to measurement

Patty began her training as a scientist at a very young age by
trailing along behind her father, William L. Burch, M. D.
as  he made his rounds practicing medicine in the
mountains of western North Carolina.  Her understanding
of the scientific method, practical application of cause and
effect, Brownian motion and many other things has its
roots in these experiences.

Patty started her formal education at Furman University,
where she earned her B. S. in Chemistry 1969.  She has
continued her studies through numerous courses on topics
including Quality Assurance, Good Laboratory Practices,
mass spectrometry, computers and database management.

Her career has included senior management positions in
Operations and Quality Assurance.  She was part of the
early management team at CompuChem Laboratories, a
pioneer in the high production volume environmental
analysis lab business.  She was involved in solving many
problems whose solutions are now standard practices in
most environmental testing labs.

Patty's background includes responsibility for Quality
Assurance for various pharmaceutical studies ranging from
preclinical studies through Phase III clinical trials.  As
Technical Assistant to the President at Triangle Labs, she
acted as a 'trouble-shooter', identifying the root causes of
production problems in the lab operations.
